  • Fabricator

    Are you looking for an opportunity to put your welding and fabrication skills to work? Mid-City Steel may be the place for you. We are seeking skilled fabricators with a strong eye for quality to join The Tough Job Team.

    In this role, you will work with some of the most advanced welding and fabrication equipment in the industry. You will have the opportunity to learn new and advanced fabrication methods while supporting Mid-City Steel’s commitment to delivering the highest-quality products to our customers.

    Job Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Operate fabrication shop machinery and equipment
    • Read job information sheets (JIS) to achieve expected results
    • Accurately measure work-piece dimensions based on blueprint specifications
    • Remove burrs and sharp edges from work-pieces
    • Read and interpret blueprints
    • Verify that final pieces meet quality expectations for the job
    • Report or record completed items through a remote link
    • Perform related duties as assigned by supervision

    Job Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • At least one year of experience in fabrication, or
    • A comparable combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job
    • Ability to comprehend blueprints and work specifications
    • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more
    • Must be able to pass the welder qualification test as required by the AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Code
    • Understanding of construction tasks and industrial processes is a plus

    Physical Demands

    • This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day
    • Constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, as well as reaching with hands and arms
    • Frequent lifting and moving of items weighing more than 50 pounds
    • Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
